How To Do Interval Walking: Amongst various ways of walking, interval walking is an engaging and effective workout that helps to boost weight loss and achieve your fitness goals, if practised consistently. Interval walking involves alternate periods of brisk walking and slower-paced recovery, that challenge your cardiovascular health and help you burn more calories than a steady-paced walk. This type of walking is extremely easy to incorporate into your daily schedule and has incredible advantages for your health goals.
To get yourself started, you need to establish a baseline of your walking speed and endurance. Start with a five-minute warm-up to prepare your body, especially muscles and joints for a workout. Now, increase your speed to a brisk walk for about 2-3 minutes, following a slower pace for 2-4 minutes. Repeat this process typically for 20-45 minutes, depending on your body and fitness levels.
Ways To Maximise Your Walking Workout
Warm Ups
Always begin with warm-up sessions before you indulge in any workouts. Spend around 2-15 minutes to prepare your body for the workout ahead. The warm-up sessions help to reduce tension in muscles, improve posture and enhance your overall performance.
Structured Intervals
If you are a beginner, it is preferable to start with shorter intervals like 30 seconds of brisk walking which should be followed by slower walking. Gradually as your fitness progresses, you can easily increase the duration of your walking for better results.

Varied Terrains
To make the most of your interval walking workout, you can try walking on different surfaces such as grass, hills or sand to help different muscles engage in the workout. This increases your workout intensity and elevates heart rate and calorie burn, thus resulting in healthy weight management.
Tracking Tools
If you are indulging in workout and not tracking your results, then it may be of no use. Use a fitness app or watch to monitor your pace, speed, calories and distance during interval sessions. You can target specific goals using tracking tools and elevate your workout routine.
