Dr. Jyoti Khaniojh, who is a nutrition and dietetics specialist at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Patparganj, exclusively told Jagran English about whether peanuts are good for cholesterol.

Dr. Jyoti said, "Peanuts can be beneficial for cholesterol levels when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. They contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are heart-healthy fats that can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Additionally, peanuts provide plant sterols that may further contribute to cholesterol reduction."

She further added that, "However, it's crucial to be mindful of portion sizes, as peanuts are calorie-dense. Excessive calorie intake can lead to weight gain, potentially impacting cholesterol levels negatively. Opting for unsalted or lightly salted peanuts is advisable to manage sodium intake, which is essential for overall heart health."
