Kolkata Rain Essentials For Durga Puja 2025
A Strong Umbrella
An umbrella is the prime essential to beat the unexpected showers. Opt for a lightweight yet strong one that would withstand windy conditions. Slim, collapsible umbrellas are small enough to be carried in a bag, making it convenient for long hours of pandal hopping.
Waterproof Shoes
For long hours of walking during Durga Pujo amid rains, opt for waterproof shoes such as chic floaters, Crocs or jelly shoes, instead of fashionable sandals and heels. These shoes will not only keep the feet dry but also ensure that you can stroll waterlogged streets with no trouble.
A Rain-Proof Bag
As phones, wallets and power banks are a festive must-have, a waterproof bag is a requirement during these hours. If not a waterproof bag, a rain cover for a backpack or a handbag will also work. Sling bags or crossbody pouches with lining protection can also survive the packed pandal hoppings amid rains.

Quick-Dry Clothes And A Spare Scarf Or Stole
There is no need to compromise on your festive dressing due to the rain. But there is a trick to it. Opt for cotton-blend or quick-drying fabrics that can withstand the possibility of drizzle. A lightweight scarf or stole can be kept in the handbag to protect your look and hairdo from rain, keeping the style on point.
Power Bank And Zip Pouches
From taking pictures to locating pandals on maps and coordinating with friends, phones need to be working during Durga Puja. Thus, a charged power bank is essential, which won’t let the battery drain in the middle of the festival. For protection against rain, keep zip pouches to safeguard your phone and cash.
While the city is getting lashed with heavy rainfall, Durga Puja in Kolkata is all about living in the moment, despite the weather conditions. These essentials can make you rain-ready for Pujo, celebrating Maa Durga’s homecoming in full grandeur.
