It marks the birth anniversary of one of India's greatest engineers, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was a scholar and statesman too. National Engineers Day 2024: History

National Engineer's Day honours the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a visionary engineer and statesman who transformed India's infrastructure. His legacy inspired the Indian government to declare his birthday as National Engineer's Day in 1968 to recognise his contributions. During his tenure as Dewan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918, he ushered in an era of unprecedented growth, transforming the state's irrigation systems, educational landscape and industrial sector through his amazing initiatives and visionary leadership.
