Why Do People Fast During Ramadan?

One of the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the core principles and customs that constitute the faith, is fasting throughout the month of Ramadan. Fasting during Ramadan has several purposes, such as serving as a reminder of your human vulnerability and your reliance on God for nourishment, inspiring empathy and compassion for the underprivileged, and lowering external distractions to allow you to concentrate more intently on your connection with God.
