Acid Reflux

If tea is not brewed or stored properly, it can cause acid reflux, a burning sensation in the stomach. This occurs when the stomach acid flows into the food pipe and causes irritation, especially on an empty stomach.

According to WebMD, the caffeine in black tea might make anxiety worse. There is some concern that the caffeine in black tea might slow blood clotting. Use caffeine cautiously if you have a bleeding disorder.

Digestive Problems

The presence of caffeine in tea can aggravate the acid formation in the stomach and lead to heartburn, bloating and abdominal pain. Drinking tea in excess amounts can harm the digestive system and slow down its functions.
