DIFFERENT parts of the world are geared up to wintess the very first solar eclipse or surya grahan of the year 2023 today. A solar eclipse is a celestial event in which the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. This solar ecipse is being referred to as a 'Rare Hybrid Solar Eclipse' and 'Ningaloo Eclipse' and will be seen from across the parts of the globe including Australia. Immediately after that, on May 5th, the first lunar eclipse will be visible, and on October29th, the second.

There are a lot of beliefs in hinduism, particularly for pregnant women, such as the prohibition of leaving the house during the surya grahan. In addition to this, pregnant women were urged to stay inside the house at all times during the surya grahan since, according to traditional beliefs, it is truly detrimental for them. Therefore, the following are certain dos and don'ts that all pregnant women must adhere to:

1. Whenever possible, a pregnant woman should avoid sleeping during a solar eclipse.

2. A pregnant woman shouldn't observe the solar eclipse, whether directly or indirectly, because doing so could harm her eyes and, by extension, her general health.

3. Wearing bracelets, pins, and other metallic accessories is not recommended.

4. To relax your body and mind during the solar eclipse, try to meditate and recite mantras.

5. Ancient traditions hold that taking a bath after the solar eclipse is over is lucky.

6. According to some traditions, ladies should only recite the Santana Gopala Mantra while sitting on a bed covered in Durva grass.

7. Since it is thought that using sharp objects while pregnant could hurt the unborn child physically, they shouldn't use needles, scissors, knives, etc.

8. During a solar eclipse, expectant mothers should stay inside; even the eclipse's shadow shouldn't come in contact with the foetus.

9. Keep your home's windows and doors closed or covered with drapes.

10. While it is advised to avoid eating while there is an eclipse, it is also advised to eat thoroughly washed fruits if you become hungry.

11. Don't use any sharp things when the eclipse is happening.

12. Take no food or drink during the Surya Grahan.

13. Avoid wearing metals, especially jewellery, tightening pins, sari pins, and hairpins.
