Menstrual pain is an agonising experience that impacts millions of women around the world often accompanied by a slew of uncomfortable symptoms. Even if some OTC medications provide temporary relief, there are still questions about their long-term safety and efficacy. Instead of relying on medications, a healthy diet can be a game-changer to reduce menstrual pain naturally. A healthy, well-balanced diet filled with nutrients can alleviate symptoms, improve overall wellness and regulate cycles.

Dark chocolate that has at least 70% cocoa contains magnesium and iron can decrease the pain of your period. The antioxidants in dark chocolate assist with inflammation while the flavour of dark chocolate helps with mentally coping with the onset of your period.

Salty Snacks
Stop eating high-sodium foods like chips, fries or processed foods because they will trap water in your body and contribute to bloating while you are on your period. Too much salt even has the ability to retain 1.5 litres of water in your body and cause extra discomfort during menstruation.

Dairy Products

Processed foods that contain additives or preservatives should be avoided at all times as they contribute to inflammation and bloating which can worsen one's attitude.
