Hair Masks For Summer: With the arrival of the summer season comes a lot of hair issues including an itchy, oily scalp, frizzy hair and dandruff. All these issues can be solved with the help of DIY hair masks that can be made at home. The increased effect of global warming issues around the world has made heat unbearable in the summer season causing it to soak up the moisture in hair and make it frizzy and brittle. Thus, taking care of hair becomes a crucial step, especially in the summer season.

With the rising temperature hair health suffers the most, leaving it subject to a variety of damage. Although you opt for hair treatments like a hair spa to relax the tresses, you must remain sceptical about all the chemicals utilised in it. What can come to the rescue of your damaged hair is homemade hair masks giving you smooth, lustrous and healthy tresses. Here’s a list of DIY hair masks made from the ingredients available at home.

Homemade DIY Hair Masks For Summer Season

Aloe Vera And Coconut Oil Mask

Aloe vera provides hydration to the scalp and repairs sun-damaged hair. On the other hand, coconut oil nourishes and strengthens the tresses. Make this hair mask by mixing two tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel with a tablespoon of coconut oil. Apply all over the hair and leave it for at least 30 minutes before rinsing with a mild shampoo. This mask helps keep the hair soft, shiny and frizz-free in the hot and humid weather.

Banana And Honey Mask

Being rich in potassium and vitamins, bananas provide moisture to dry and brittle hair while honey is a natural humectant that locks in hydration. This mask repairs sun-damaged hair, making it silky and manageable. Blend one ripe banana with two tablespoons of honey until a smooth paste. Apply on the damp hair and let it sit for at least 20-30 minutes before rinsing off.

Yoghurt And Lemon Mask

Excessive sweat and oil buildup can make the scalp greasy and oily, leading to dandruff. Yoghurt cleans the scalp because of its prebiotics and lemons balance oil production, thus dandruff. Mix half a cup of plain yoghurt with lemon juice and apply on the scalp. Leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse off thoroughly.

Egg And Olive Oil Mask

Being high in protein, eggs help strengthen hair and olive oil provides nourishment, preventing dryness and split ends. Whisk one egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply the mask on the hair. Let it sit for 30 minutes before shampooing off. The mask is perfect for adding shine to the hair.

Cucumber And Aloe Vera Mask

The high water content of cucumber cools and hydrates the scalp. Aloe vera gel nourishes and soothes the hair damaged by the sun. This mask is ideal for summer as it keeps the hair fresh, hydrated and shiny without weighing it down. Blend half a cucumber with two tablespoons of aloe vera gel to form a smooth paste. Apply on the hair for 20 minutes before rinsing.
