Weight Loss Tips: Our habits define us and shape our overall health and well-being. Adopting healthy habits in life prevents severe health conditions, and promotes discipline and an advanced lifestyle. When it comes to losing weight, choosing habits wisely and following them plays an essential role. A morning routine is a set of habits that you practise when you wake up. How you start your morning reflects on how your day will go, especially if you are on a weight loss journey.

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in India, the prevalence of overweight and obesity has increased rapidly in recent decades. A sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy habits have a huge role to play in these statistics. If you want to lose weight, then here are some healthy morning habits that you should add to your routine to see the change.

Healthy Morning Habits For Quick Weight Loss

1. Getting Up Early

The saying ‘Early to bed, early to rise’ is not just a quote but a life mantra. When you sleep on time and wake up early, your body gets used to those timings and works in its direction. Sleep schedules can differ from person to person, but the majority of us are night owls. When a person’s sleep schedule does not align with his/her social requirements, they might perform poorly at school or work, experience anxiety, and have personal relationship complications, states the Sleep Foundation. A regulated sleep cycle is essential for weight loss.

2. Drinking Warm Water

Consuming a glass of warm water is one the best habits that you will develop in your life for a healthy body. Warm water can help you stay hydrated, ease congestion, improve digestion, relieve stress, and make you feel warmer. When you consume warm water right in the morning, it switches the body temperature and activates the metabolism, which further helps in losing weight, according to Healthline.

3. Protein-Rich Breakfast

Breakfast is known as the most important meal of the day and your breakfast plate should include all vital vitamins and minerals that the body needs for proper functioning. A breakfast rich in protein can promote weight loss and provide a healthy body. According to the Cleveland Clinic, protein is valuable when it comes to increased fullness and satisfaction after a meal.

The amount you need depends on several factors, including your age, how much lean muscle you have, your overall health and your activity level. In general, you should make sure 10% to 35% of your daily calories come from protein and you should burn 500 calories more than what you eat each day if you want to lose weight.

4. Adequate Sleep

A good night’s sleep is also another essential part of a healthy regime for weight loss. The Sleep Foundation states that while sleeping, the body performs repairing and maintaining processes that affect nearly every part of the body. As a result, a good night’s sleep, or a lack of sleep, can impact the body both mentally and physically. Inadequate sleep is usually linked to obesity and other health issues.
