Mother’s Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May and is marked to show love, appreciation, recognition and gratitude for her irreplaceable role in the family. International Mother’s Day 2025 falls on May 11, which is, Sunday and is a perfect day to cherish and celebrate the presence of your mothers.

Mother’s Day History
Mother’s Day dates back to ancient civilisations, where festivals honouring motherhood were celebrated with great enthusiasm. The mother goddesses, such as Rhea and Cybele were honoured and worshipped. However, the modern Mother’s Day started in the early 20th century when Anna Jarvis, an American social activist, campaigned for an official day to honour mothers.
The first Mother’s Day was celebrated in 1908 in West Virginia, which was followed by its official declaration as a national holiday in the United States in 1914. Since then, Mother’s Day has evolved into a global phenomenon and is celebrated in various countries around the world with diverse customs and traditions.
