LIVER is a vital organ of our body that is responsible for producing bile, which is an alkaline fluid containing cholesterol and bile acids, which further helps in the breakdown of fat. The liver plays some other vital responsibilities also which include producing proteins, cholesterol, and bile to store vitamins, minerals, and even carbohydrates. It also breaks down toxins like alcohol, medications, and natural byproducts of metabolism. When it comes to keeping the liver healthy, our diet has a great role to play. Due to a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy food choices, the health of our liver can get affected. However, various yoga asanas can help in maintaining a healthy and strong liver.

Yoga Poses For Healthy Liver

1. Adho Mukha Svanasana

Also known as the downward-facing dog pose, it is known as an inversion asana, which is practised to strengthen bones. Practising this yoga asana provides mental and physical relaxation, shoulder opening, and ankle and foot mobility. Moreover, this yoga pose also helps in improving digestion with the compression of abdominal organs.

2. Salabhasana

Salabhasana, also referred to as locust pose, is a backbend pose that can help in strengthening muscles of the back and stimulate the liver. It also enhances blood circulation to the spine and other parts of the body and stimulates digestive functions.

3. Kapalabhati

Kapalabhati, also known as skull shining breath, is an effective yoga pose to enhance liver health. It is a breathing exercise that helps in stimulating the liver and boosts its functions. Moreover, it improves blood circulation, and increases metabolism, further enhancing liver health.

4. Balasana

Also known as the child pose, balasana is a kneeling pose which ideally helps in releasing tensions from the chest. This asana massages the liver and other vital organs of the body, thus improving blood circulation and liver health.

5. Anulom Vilom

Anulom Vilom is the most common controlled breathing exercise and has major effects on physical, mental and spiritual health. Various studies state that this breathing exercise can be very effective for the ones suffering from fatty liver. This exercise helps in stimulating, stretching and strengthening the liver.
