The Indian government has recently made significant changes to the flight rules in the country. While several of these changes took place in late 2025, many rules were recently implemented in India. Ban On Power Banks
The government has banned the use of power banks to charge devices in flight. It is worth mentioning that passengers can carry the power bank in their hand luggage. However, the power bank cannot be used for charging devices in flight, as it poses a fire risk.

Enhanced Airline Accountability
The government has also implemented a new set of rules to enhance airlines’ accountability towards passengers. The government has set higher compensation for lost baggage/cargo, and higher liability limits have also been set in case of the death of a passenger. Additionally, the government has made it essential for the airlines to equip their call centres for delays and compensation.

Crew Duty Rules
The government has also introduced new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules for pilots and crew staff. The government has taken these steps to enhance the safety and operational efficiency of flights.

New Cancellation/Rescheduling Rule
The government is also aiming to increase the time limit for cancellation/rescheduling of tickets. As per sources, the government might soon release a new draft to provide a full refund on tickets booked up to 7 days before the flight. If implemented, the ticket amount will be refunded to passengers within 24 hours of booking.
