Bajaj Auto has introduced a new variant of its popular Chetak electric scooter which has been named as the Chetak Urbane. Bajaj Chetak Urbane - Battery and Driving Range

Talking about the battery and range of the Bajaj Chetak Urbane, Bajaj Auto’ official website stated that the Urbane variant offers an IDC claimed driving range of 113 km which is higher than the standard Chetak that offers a driving range of 108 km. However, as this driving range has been certified by Indian Driving Conditions (IDC) so it is likely that the Bajaj Chetak Urbane will offer comparatively lesser driving range in the real world. Additionally, there has been no confirmation on the battery pack equipped in the Bajaj Chetak Urbane. It is yet to be known whether Bajaj will use the existing 2.9kWh battery capacity that is used in the standard Chetak or the Bajaj Chetak Urbane will be equipped with a different battery pack.

Bajaj Chetak Urbane - Performance

The Bajaj Chetak Urbane is capable of achieving a top speed of 63 km/h and offers an ‘Eco’ riding mode whereas after the installation of the ‘TecPac’ package it can achieve a top speed of 73 km/h and gets an additional ‘Sport’ riding mode as well. Moreover, it is equipped with a LCD display same as the one used in the existing Chetak Premium variant.

Despite new advancements, the new Urbane model falls behind the existing Chetak Premium variant in some aspects. The charging capacity for the standard charger has been decreased from 800W to 650W, resulting in longer charging times from 3 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 50 minutes. Additionally, the Urbane variant is equipped only with drum brakes at both ends. This suggests that Bajaj may soon update the Chetak Premium to align or exceed the Urbane in areas where it currently falls behind.
