Delhi EV Policy 2.0:  The Delhi government is planning on implementing a new EV policy from next year onwards. The existing policy was implemented in 2020 for three years, and it has already been extended several times. It is worth noting that the existing EV policy failed to boost EV sales. The draft of the Delhi EV policy 2.0 is expected to be released by the first week of January 2026. Let’s take a look at all the changes expected from the Delhi EV Policy 2.0.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Affordable EVs

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, shared information about the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 via a post on the social media platform X (previously Twitter). She mentioned in her post that the EVs in the state will be made more affordable by offering higher discounts/bonuses on old vehicle scrapping. Additionally, higher subsidies of up to 80 per cent will also be provided to make EVs more affordable. As per several media reports, the government is also planning on offering up to Rs 40,000 to people switching from ICE to electric two-wheelers.

Delhi EV Policy 2.0: Better Charging Infrastructure

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, also shared on her X post that the public charging infrastructure will be made better. The Chief Minister also mentioned in her X post that new public charging stations will be installed in public areas and colonies. Additionally, the state government is also planning on adding a new battery swapping system as well.
