SUVs Dominate January 2026 sales: Tata Nexon To Kia Sonet; 9 SUVs Featured In Top 10 Best-Selling Cars

Best-Selling Car India:  The demand for SUVs is skyrocketing in India, and the January 2026 sales chart corroborated this fact further, as 9 out of 10 bestselling cars in the country were featured in the top 10 best-selling cars in the previous month. Let’s take a look at the January 2026 sales chart.

These SUVs Sales Declined

While all of the SUVs registered a positive year-on-year growth rate, sales of two SUVs declined in the previous month. These two SUV models are the Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. In January 2025, a total of 18,522 units of the Hyundai Creta were sold, but it managed to sell only a total of 17,921 units in January 2026. Similarly, while a total of 15,192 units of the Maruti Fronx were sold in January 2025, it managed to sell a total of 13,353 units in the previous month. The Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx sales declined by 3.24 and 12.11 per cent on a year-on-year basis, respectively.

Tata Nexon Becomes Bestseller

A total of 15,397 units of the Tata Nexon were sold in January 2025, and the SUV registered sales of a total of 23,365 units in January 2026. The SUV recorded a 51.75 per cent year-on-year growth in the previous month. Notably, this is the highest-ever monthly sales recorded by the SUV. Additionally, the cumulative sales of the SUV also crossed the 10 lakh milestone in the previous year.
