Tesla Owners In India: US based EV manufacturer Tesla is gearing up to enter the Indian market. As per reports, Tesla is scouting for locations to set up a manufacturing plant in the country. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu governments have offered appealing land deals to the manufacturer to set up its manufacturing facility in these states. Previously, Tesla had announced entry in the Indian market a few years ago but that was not successful. However, this time it is likely that Tesla will be officially entering the Indian market. Therefore, to stir up more excitement ahead of the imminent launch, we have curated a list of Tesla car owners in India that have already bought the globally renowned EV model before it is officially launched in the country.

Mukesh Ambani 

The Ambani family has a wide range of vehicles in their Jio Garage which includes various luxury and sporty cars. The Ambani family has multiple Rolls-Royces, Bentleys and Ferraris in their garage. In addition to this, they also have two Tesla cars in their collection. One of those two models is the Tesla Model S 100D, a high-performance sedan with multiple electric motors producing a combined power of 423 bhp and peak torque of 660 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 249 km/h. 

Riteish Deshmukh

Riteish Deshmukh was one of the early Tesla car owners in India. His wife Genelia D’Souza gifted him a Model X, although the car isn't presently in India. Riteish was seen with the stylish red Model X several years ago. Like many other Bollywood celebrities, he has a collection of luxury cars, including a newly purchased BMW iX electric SUV in India, priced at Rs 1.21 crore (ex-showroom).

Pooja Batra

Actress and former Miss India Pacific, Pooja Batra, owns a Tesla Model 3 in the USA, where she spends most of her time. She shared a picture with her Model 3 a few years back. Despite being Tesla's entry-level model, the Model 3 is also available with a luxury price tag. Interestingly, this model was anticipated to be Tesla's first model in India. There were sightings of the Model 3 being tested in India following Tesla's announcement of entering the Indian market.

Prashant Ruia

Prashant Ruia, the CEO of Essar Group in India, was among the first Tesla car owners in the country, making him the first celebrity owner of this model. Prashant Ruia imported the vehicle to India in 2017 and has frequently been seen driving it since then. While the specific variant of the car is not known, it boasts a striking electric blue colour that certainly grabs attention.
