Officers of the Bihar Revenue Service (BRS) will proceed on mass leave from Monday in protest against alleged neglect of their cadre and non-fulfilment of long-pending demands. The decision was taken by the Bihar Revenue Service Association, which has formally informed the department’s Principal Secretary, CK Anil, in writing.
The association has claimed that revenue employees across the state will also join the protest in support of the officers. In its letter to the Principal Secretary, the association alleged that Bihar Revenue Service officers are being sidelined, with officers of the Bihar Administrative Service being posted to positions traditionally earmarked for the Revenue Service cadre.

The association further alleged that its officers are not being appointed to the post of Deputy Collector, Land Reforms (DCLR), a position senior to Circle Officer (Anchaladhikari). It claimed that even the Patna High Court’s order directing the appointment of Bihar Revenue Service officers to DCLR posts, issued in June last year, has not been implemented. The matter is still pending before the High Court.
Meanwhile, the state government has created the post of Sub-Divisional Revenue Officer for Revenue Service officers, a move that the association has strongly opposed, stating that it does not address their core demands.
