To accelerate the development of cities in Bihar, the state government plans to adopt key features of Gujarat’s urban development model. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development and Housing Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha held a detailed meeting with Gujarat’s Urban Development Minister Kannubhai Mohanlal Desai in Gandhinagar on Thursday. 

During the meeting, various aspects of Gujarat’s urban planning and development framework were discussed, and information was gathered on best practices.

Vijay Kumar Sinha, who is currently in Gandhinagar to attend a Chintan Shivir (brainstorming session) organised by the Union Ministry of Mines and Geology, also exchanged greetings with Minister Desai, presenting him with an angavastra and a bouquet.

The Chintan Shivir is being attended by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Mines and Geology Ministers from several states, and senior officials of the respective departments. 

The session is focused on future strategies, innovations, and challenges in the mining sector, with an emphasis on sustainable mineral development, environmental protection, self-reliance, and the use of digital technologies.

It may be noted that last month, during a review meeting of the Urban Development Department, Vijay Kumar Sinha had praised Gujarat’s urban development model, describing it as among the best in the country, with nearly 56 per cent urbanisation. He had then indicated that a team from Bihar would visit Gujarat to study the model in detail for possible implementation in the state.
