A tragic accident was reported on Republic Day in the vegetable market area under the Warisaliganj Municipal Council in Bihar’s Nawada district, where five children were burnt after a fire broke out during a tableau procession organised by a school. One of the injured children is reported to be in a serious condition.

The incident occurred at Sabji Bazar Chowk, triggering panic and chaos in the busy market area. According to officials, one severely injured child has been referred to VIMS, Pawapuri, for advanced treatment, while two others are undergoing treatment at the Warisaliganj Community Health Centre. The remaining injured children also received medical attention.

Local sources alleged that the school management failed to make immediate arrangements to take the injured children to the hospital following the incident. Bystanders reportedly stepped in and rushed the children for treatment. The alleged negligence has angered the families of the victims.

Preliminary information suggests that petrol was being used as part of a display on the tableau when the fire broke out, leading to the accident. The exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed.
