The Bihar government’s Pre-Examination Training Scheme (Praak Pariksha Prashikshan Yojana) is emerging as a major support system for meritorious students from Backward Class (BC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) communities who are unable to afford costly coaching for competitive examinations.
Under the scheme, eligible students are being provided free, quality coaching for civil services, SSC and other major competitive exams at recognised pre-examination training centres across the state. The initiative aims to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder talented students from pursuing their academic and career aspirations.

The training is conducted in an organised and disciplined manner using modern facilities. Students are prepared through structured courses to ensure equal opportunities for candidates from economically weaker sections. To avail the benefit, applicants must be permanent residents of Bihar, belong to BC or EBC categories, and have an annual family income of not more than Rs 3 lakh.
The training duration is six months, with 120 students coached at each centre in two batches. Facilities provided under the scheme include digital study centres, advanced libraries, motivation and guidance sessions, and an incentive of Rs 3,000 for students completing at least 75 per cent attendance.
According to Satyendra Dutt Mishra, Director of the Pre-Examination Training Centre at Patna University, selection for enrolment is done either through an entrance examination or based on academic merit. He said experienced faculty members provide syllabus-based teaching and comprehensive study material for BPSC and other competitive examinations.

At present, around 38 pre-examination training centres are functioning across Bihar, benefiting thousands of students. The application process has been made fully online to ensure transparency and ease of access. Detailed information about centres and eligibility is available on the state government’s website.
Officials said the scheme reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting educational empowerment and ensuring that deserving students are not deprived of opportunities due to a lack of financial resources.
