A young man visiting his in-laws was brutally shot dead in Janglimandal Tola, Mathar, under the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station in Khagaria.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Tonis Kumar, a resident of Tetri Dandari in Begusarai district. Following the instructions of SP Rakesh Kumar, a police team led by ASP-cum-Sadar SDPO Mukul Kumar Ranjan and Mufassil Station House Officer (In-charge) Sangeeta Kumari reached the scene. They inspected the area and secured the crime scene for further investigation.

Four Arrested Including Wife

The forensic team has been notified. The SP stated that a case has been registered against five individuals under sections related to murder and the Arms Act. Out of the five named accused, four have been arrested.

The Mufassil Station In-charge confirmed that the deceased's wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law are among the four arrested. Strict surveillance is being maintained to ensure law and order in the area.

Motive Of Murder

Illicit Affair Suspected The deceased's uncle, Niranjan Yadav, stated that Tonis got married on December 9, 2025. He had visited his in-laws' home for the first time after the wedding on January 10.

While staying there, Tonis grew suspicious of his wife's behavior. It is alleged that his wife was involved in an illicit relationship with a relative. When Tonis objected to this, a dispute arose between the couple.

According to the victim's relatives, on January 15, the wife called them and claimed that Tonis had gone for a walk towards the fields alone when criminals shot him, leading to his death.

Investigation Underway

The uncle further mentioned that Tonis had been staying at his in-laws' house for five days. He was shot in the temple. The police are currently conducting raids to arrest the remaining named accused in the case.

The brutal murder of a son-in-law at his in-laws' house has triggered shock and speculation in the area. The police are investigating the matter from all angles.

Official Statement

Khagaria SP Rakesh Kumar stated that upon receiving information, the police team inspected the spot and secured the crime scene. Five people have been named as accused, and four are already in custody. The forensic team has been called in to assist with the investigation.
