Members of the goldsmith community from 22 states and union territories across India gathered in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, for a meeting and oath-taking ceremony organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Swarnkar Sangh. The event, held at a palace auditorium, commenced with the lighting of a lamp and the hoisting of the community's yellow and white flag, symbolising gold and silver respectively.
Discussions centered around the development of the goldsmith community, addressing their traditional occupation's challenges and security concerns. Various suggestions were proposed for the community's overall development.
National President Yashpal Chauhan, along with other prominent members including Legislative Council member and National General Secretary Jeevan Kumar, former Rajya Sabha member Kailash Soni, and MLA Pritam Pawar from Tehri Garhwal, addressed the gathering.
Sudama Kumar, State Vice President, highlighted the detrimental impact of laws like IPC sections 411 and 412 on the community's businesses. He argued that holding goldsmiths accountable for unknowingly purchasing stolen goods is unjust and called for revisions to these laws.
Sudama also stressed the importance of government scholarships for children from economically weaker sections within the goldsmith community. Newly elected members, including President Yashpal Chauhan and State Vice President Sudama Kumar, were sworn in during the ceremony.
