Bihar University Exam Scandal: How Lapses At LS College Led To PAT Paper Leak
University to revoke degrees of those found guilty in question paper leak case.

The investigation into the leak of the PhD Admission Test (PAT) Paper One question paper has intensified, with the university proposing unprecedented action against any students found guilty. In a drastic move, the university is preparing a proposal to revoke all prior degrees—from undergraduate to master's—of those involved in the leak. This proposal will be presented to the university's examination board for approval as officials vow to spare no one responsible.

Investigation Centers On LS College

The probe is currently focused on the LS College examination center, from where the paper was reportedly circulated on social media. On Monday, authorities secured CCTV footage from the center and sealed exam room number 37 to preserve evidence.

The footage reportedly shows two to three suspects loitering near the room's window. This evidence contradicts statements from the on-duty invigilators, who claimed they saw no outsiders during the exam. The university now plans to hand the video footage over to the police for further investigation.

Scrutiny Of College Administration

The college administration is also facing scrutiny over serious procedural lapses that may have enabled the leak. Key concerns include:

Prohibited Staff on Duty: Despite instructions to the contrary, non-teaching staff were allegedly assigned examination duties.

Poor Seating Arrangement: Questions are being raised about why a vulnerable, windowed room was used for the exam when the main building was full. Officials noted that safer, windowless classrooms were available in the Arts Block, and using them could have prevented the incident.

Future Reforms Planned

Looking ahead, the university plans to overhaul its examination procedures, including making changes to the PAT answer sheet format after studying the systems used by other institutions.

Proctor Prof. BS Rai confirmed that a formal proposal detailing the stringent actions against the culprits is being prepared for the examination board. He also stated that a plan is being formulated to expose any masterminds operating behind the scenes.
