A major controversy has erupted within the railway police following the investigation into the robbery of one kilogram of gold from the Howrah-Jodhpur (Bikaner) Superfast Express. In a startling turn of events, the protectors turned out to be the alleged predators, leading to the suspension of four Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel stationed at Gayaji Rail Thana.

The suspension order was issued by the Superintendent of Railway Police, Patna. Additionally, departmental proceedings have been initiated against the then Station House Officer (SHO), who is also a suspect in the case.

The Incident

The robbery occurred on November 21 on train number 22307, the Howrah-Jodhpur Superfast Express. A courier working for a Kanpur-based gold trader was assaulted and robbed of one kilogram of gold between the Koderma and Gayaji rail sections.

The Investigation And Twist

Initially, an FIR was registered at Gayaji Rail Thana based on an application by Sub-Inspector-cum-SHO Rajesh Kumar Singh. The complaint alleged that "four unidentified police personnel" had deboarded the courier and snatched the gold.

However, a deeper probe involving technical evidence, Call Detail Records (CDRs), and tower location analysis revealed a different story. The investigation indicated that the police personnel stationed at Gayaji Rail Thana were themselves involved.

Action Taken Against Personnel

Following the revelations, the involvement of several officers was found to be prima facie true.

Suspended Immediately: Constables Karan Kumar, Abhishek Chaturvedi, Ranjay Kumar, and Anand Mohan.

Under Scrutiny: Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar Singh (SHO), Constable Parvez Alam, and driver Sitaram.

Pending Action: A proposal for the suspension of SHO Rajesh Kumar Singh has been sent to senior officials, with a decision expected shortly.

Next Steps

Considering the seriousness of the offense, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted. The SIT has been instructed to gather evidence and conduct a thorough inquiry into the roles of all accused.

The railway police administration has issued a stern statement asserting that no personnel found guilty will be spared and that strict legal and departmental actions will be taken against the perpetrators.
