In Chandasi village, adjacent to Patna, it is not just a temple being built these days, but a new chapter in the history of faith, culture, and craftsmanship is being forged. Amidst the village's tranquil atmosphere, India's tallest Ardhanarishwar statue is rapidly taking shape, having already captured the attention of devotees and art lovers during its construction. Despite not being fully completed, the site has already become a centre of faith. From morning until evening, devotees, local residents, and tourists arrive to gaze at this wonderful creation. Many people are describing it as a project that will elevate Bihar's religious identity to new heights.
108-Foot Statue Completes Shiva’s Family
The most significant feature of this construction is the 108-foot-tall main statue of Ardhanarishwar. Crafting the integrated form of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati at such a great height is a major challenge in itself. On one side of the main statue, a 40-foot-tall statue of Lord Kartikeya is being installed, and on the other, a statue of Lord Ganesha, representing the completeness of Shiva's family.
Grand Entrance And Architectural Marvel
The temple's entrance captivates devotees at first sight. Here, large statues of a serpent and a lion stand as symbols of power and protection. The statues of elephants and their mahouts adorning both sides of the gate create the impression of entering a royal temple. The temple being built directly beneath the Ardhanarishwar statue is an excellent example of architectural art. Intricate designs, including chandelier-like carvings, flowers, and traditional motifs, have been etched onto the temple walls. Several grand thrones are also being prepared, on which other idols of Shiva's family will be installed.
Unique Stone-Finish Technique
According to the artisans involved in the construction, the entire structure will be painted in a stone-finish brown colour. This will create the appearance that the entire temple and statue have been carved from a single, massive stone. This technique is intended to give the temple an even more magnificent and historic look.
New Hub For Religious Tourism
Local residents believe that once the Ardhanarishwar statue is complete, Chandasi village could become a major religious tourist destination for devotees not only from Bihar but from across the country. It is expected that this will not only strengthen the region's cultural identity but also provide a new impetus to the local economy.
