Bihar News: The Janata Dal United (JDU) on Saturday distanced itself from the former MP KC Tyagi's recent remarks, especially the demand of Bharat Ratna for the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. While addressing the reporters, JDU national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad clarified that his remarks do not align with the party's official stand. Earlier on Friday, Tyagi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer the Bharat Ratna on Nitish Kumar, describing him as a “gem of the socialist movement”. While the ruling party in Bihar has not specifically reacted to his demands, it clarified that Tyagi's remarks were his personal.
In a letter to PM Modi, the senior JDU stated that Nitish Kumar has devoted his life to social justice, good governance, and women’s empowerment. “Inspired by these efforts, we request that Nitish Kumar, a precious gem of the socialist movement, is also worthy of this honour. Many heroes have received this honour during their lifetime. On behalf of millions of people, we hope and request that our beloved leader Nitish Kumar be bestowed with this honour so that history may long appreciate your efforts,” Tyagi stated in his letter.
JDU spokesperson Rajiv Prasad stated that Tyagi's recent remarks do not align with the party's official stance. While he did not address the demands of Bharat Ratna for the Bihar chief minister, Prasad stated that Tyagi's recent remarks were personal. However, Nitish Kumar has directed the party leaders to not make such demands, reported Jagran.com.
While Tyagi was once the party's national general secretary and spokesperson, he was later removed from both positions by Nitish Kumar. The former MP remained active in the party activities as an advisor; however, he has been sidelined in the past few months, raising speculations on his future.
