Telangana Traffic Advisory: Traffic authorities have issued an advisory to motorists on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway ahead of Makar Sankranti, which sees heavy vehicular movement from Hyderabad towards Andhra Pradesh.

According to official data, on the eve of Bhogi last year, 84,262 vehicles passed through the Pantangi toll plaza, while total traffic during the festival surged to 2.07 lakh vehicles.

Telangana Traffic Advisory: Traffic Diversions

To manage vehicular flow during the festival, police have announced diversions on the following routes:

- Hyderabad to Guntur: Vehicles will be diverted at Narketpally via Nalgonda–Miryalaguda–Piduguralla.

- Traffic will be diverted via Nakerkal–Arvapalli–Maripeda Bangla–Khammam.

- Vehicular movement will also be routed from Tekumatla to the Khammam National Highway.

- If congestion persists, vehicles will be routed from Tekumatla to the Khammam National Highway.

- Hyderabad–Vijayawada: The Tekumatla diversion will be temporarily lifted, with a newly built temporary road allowing direct movement on the national highway.

- Khammam-Hyderabad: Vehicles will be diverted via Chivvemla and Ailapuram towards Suryapet and Hyderabad.

Drone Surveillance During Festival Period

Police have announced the deployment of drone-based surveillance along the Vijayawada highway during the festival period to monitor traffic and address congestion. Traffic management will be overseen by teams led by Circle Inspectors from Suryapet Rural, Suryapet Town, Munagala, Kodad and Kodad Rural. Cranes, ambulances, towing vehicles and four highway patrol units have been placed on standby.

Authorities have identified 24 accident-prone black spots across the district. Safety measures, including CCTV cameras, warning signboards, improved street lighting, pothole repairs and removal of unnecessary barricades have been implemented.
