Patna News: Piped Gas Supply To Reach Gardanibagh Homes Next Month; Relief for Thousands As Cylinder Woes End

Good news for the residents of Patna, as the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is set to begin next month, ending the hassle of refilling cylinders. Gas will be delivered directly to homes via a pipeline, a method that is safer, more convenient, economical, and environmentally friendly, eliminating the need to book or change cylinders.

The month of December is set to bring significant relief to thousands of families in the Gardanibagh area of the capital. After a long wait, the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households is scheduled to begin, with pipe-laying and technical work now in its final phase.

Project Status And Benefits

According to officials, the installation of the main pipeline network is nearly complete, while work on household connections and safety inspections is proceeding rapidly. Engineers have confirmed that gas supply will commence immediately after all safety standards are formally verified.

Convenience: The introduction of PNG will eliminate the hassle of booking cylinders, waiting for refills, and managing deliveries.

Cost & Safety: Experts note that PNG is not only safer than traditional cylinders but will also significantly reduce domestic gas expenditure.

Infrastructure Upgrade: Two New DRS Installed AK Sinha, General Manager (Bihar) of GAIL India, stated that the PNG delivery system has been strengthened by establishing two District Regulating Stations (DRS).

Locations: One DRS is installed in Gardanibagh, and the second is in the Mithapur area of the bypass.

Connectivity: Both stations are connected to the Beur line to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply.

Coverage Areas

Through these new stations, the PNG network will be activated in several key localities, including:

  • Kacchi Talab
  • Road Numbers 15 and 16
  • Area behind Bapu Tower
  • MLA Residences and surrounding parts
  • Officials reported that household connection work in these zones is moving fast, with most pipelines currently in the testing phase.

Current Connection Statistics

According to GAIL India, the adoption of PNG in Patna is growing:

Registrations: Approximately 46,000 consumers have registered for a connection to date.

Active Connections: Connections have already been provided to 26,000 homes.

The company aims to connect more areas of the city in the coming months. Officials believe the December launch will be a major step toward providing clean, safe, and convenient energy to Patna.
