Good news has come for the nearly 4,000 employees of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) amid the festive season, as the Union Territory government announced a key salary revision. The government has raised the minimum monthly salary to Rs 18,000 based on "equal pay for equal work,". This revision includes applicable Dearness Allowance (DA) benefits.
According to a report from agency PTI, the mandatory pay revision will entail an additional expense of Rs 52 crore on the state treasury.
Employees Background And Pay Structure
The beneficiaries were originally appointed as Domestic Breeding Checker (DBC) staff, and they are subsequently re-designated as Multi-Tasking Staff (Public Health). MCD Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar said that these workers have provided essential public health services, conducting routine door-to-door inspections across the capital for years. The commissioner highlights their contribution.
Under the updated framework, the employees are now mapped to Level 1 of the Pay Matrix at a basic pay of Rs 18,000 plus variable DA.
