Women's T20 World Cup 2024: Australia skipper Alyssa Healy admitted that it won't be easy to defeat India in their Women's T20 World Cup 2024 clash in Sharjah on Sunday. Australia are currently the table toppers of the Group A points table on the back of winning their first two matches against New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
At the same time, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side are lying at the second position, with four points and they are yet to qualify for the semifinals. India had defeated Australia during the 2018 and the 2020 T20 World Cup and Healy is aware of the challenges the Women in Blue could pose in their next match.
“We know how hard they are to beat and hard to play against, especially on the biggest stage. We are going to have to be wary of them,” Healy was quoted as saying on Star Sports.
'Going to be super tough'
Australia's star all-rounder Ellyse Perry also lauded the Women in Blue for being a formidable side. Perry, who is playing in her ninth T20 World Cup has admitted that she had liked their fierce rivalry against the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side.
“India are a phenomenally talented and skillful side and we know like whenever we play each other that it’s going to be super tough. It’s been a pleasure to kind of develop that rivalry with India,” she revealed.
Australia had defeated India in the Women's T20 World Cup previously, as they had won 25 of the 34 matches that they had played till now and have lost in just seven matches. They also defeated India during the 2020 Women's T20 World Cup summit clash in MCG and also in the semifinal last year.
The Alyssa Healy-led side will lock horns with Pakistan on Friday in Sharjah.
