Star India batter Abhishek Sharma revealed that Yuvraj Singh advised him to stop trying to hit every delivery for a boundary after the second T20I against Afghanistan.
According to Abhishek, Yuvraj told him that he could also rotate the strike by taking singles instead of looking to attack every ball.
The advice came before Abhishek produced one of the fastest hundreds in men’s T20I cricket. He smashed a 30-ball century in the third T20I against Afghanistan, which puts him third on the list of the fastest hundreds in the format.
Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan holds the record for the fastest men’s T20I hundred after reaching three figures in 27 balls against Cyprus in June 2024. Turkey’s Muhammad Fahad is second, having scored a 29-ball century against Bulgaria in July 2025.
The century was Abhishek’s third in T20 cricket. The 26-year-old also has 12 fifties in the shortest format.
Abhishek took a little time to get going against Afghanistan, with his first boundary coming from the fourth delivery of the opening over. He soon found his rhythm, though, and attacked Azmatullah Omarzai in the second over, hitting two sixes and a four.
He then launched an assault on Fazalhaq Farooqi in the following over, hitting two sixes and two fours from the first four balls.
The left-hander brought up his fifty from just 16 deliveries in the fifth over. He continued his attack and reached 76 from 22 balls, helping India cross the 100-run mark during the powerplay.
Abhishek’s explosive knock finally came to an end in the 10th over when he edged a delivery from Rashid Khan through to the wicketkeeper.
