India vs South Africa 1st Test: India had a disappointing start to the third day of the first Test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
After resuming the innings from the overnight score of 256/5, Dean Elgar and Marco Jansen were in no discomfort while scoring runs as they made it a heavy struggle for the Indian bowlers.
While Elgar aimed to make his remarkable innings more monumental, his partner Jansen could've become a part of a controversy as he was warned by Ravichandran Ashwin for backing up too far at the non-striker's end.
The instance took place in the 98th over of South Africa's first innings when Ashwin ensured that everything was alright at the non-striker's end.

Ashwin has been a vocal advocate of running batters out at the non-striker's end for backing up.
The veteran was heavily criticised after he dismissed Jos Buttler by running him out at the non-striker's end in an IPL match in 2019. However, he has continued to back the mode of dismissal, which has divided the cricket fraternity in the past.
Elgar and Jansen continued to attack and stitched a 111-run stand for the sixth wicket with Elgar scoring his 150 before getting dismissed for 185 runs by Shardul Thakur.
Jansen remained at the crease and made sure of the crucial contribution with a few little partnerships with the tail-enders.
He went on to score 84 runs before the hosts were bowled out for 408 runs, taking a massive lead of 163 runs to remain ahead in the contest.
Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he picked up four wickets for 69 runs with Mohammed Siraj also taking two wickets.
Debutant Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur, and Ashwin ended up taking a wicket each as well.

Talking about Ashwin, the experienced campaigner is nearing the milestone of 500 Test wickets and the off-spinner will be hoping his fielders help him get there sooner than later.
He picked ahead of Ravindra Jadeja in the first Test as the latter had a neck injury concern on the morning of the Test.
