Fatima Sana-led Pakistan sealed their berth for the semifinals of the Asian Games 2026 after registering a dominating 72-run win over Hong Kong, China, at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
After the victory in their third Group A match, Pakistan women’s cricket team head coach Wahab Riaz spent some time interacting with Pakistani fans at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
One fan used the opportunity to make a rather unusual request to the former Pakistan pacer. Instead of talking about winning the Asia Cup, the supporter said Pakistani fans simply wanted their team to beat India.
“Wahab sahab, India par koshish karein. Wahab bhai, India ko beat karna hai humne. Humein (Asia Cup) trophy nahi chahiye, India ko humne harana hai. India nahi chhodna,” the fan can be heard saying.
India already defeated Pakistan in Asia Cup 2026
Pakistan have already played India once in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup and the result did not go their way. India registered a comfortable seven-wicket win in their Group A clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday (September 5).

After being asked to bat first by Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, Pakistan struggled badly with the bat and were bowled out for just 55 runs in 18.1 overs. India then made short work of the 56-run target, reaching it in less than nine overs.
The defeat extended India’s dominant record against Pakistan in women’s cricket and left Pakistan needing to look ahead to the knockout stage.
How can Pakistan face India again?
Pakistan will now take on defending champions Sri Lanka in the second semifinal of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 on Friday (September 11).
A win for Pakistan would set up another potential meeting with India. If Pakistan beat Sri Lanka and India win the first semifinal, the two arch-rivals will meet again in the final on Sunday (September 13) in Dubai.
