The auction for the upcoming IPL edition is scheduled to unfold at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 19. A list of 333 players has been shortlisted by the organisers, comprising 214 Indian cricketers and 119 from overseas.

Within the pool, there are 116 capped players and 215 uncapped talents. Among the participants two players will be from the Associate Nations.

List Of Players Who Can Go Big In IPL 2024 Auction:

Mitchell Starc

The Australian pacer returns to the IPL scene after his last appearance in 2015. Despite infrequent participation in T20 cricket, he remains one of the most promising bowlers, for his impactful performances in powerplays and lethal yorkers during the death overs.

His left-arm bowling style, combined with his fast-hands with the bat, makes him a sought-after player likely to attract attention during the auction. Starc, with 27 matches under his belt in the IPL, has claimed 34 wickets at an average of 20.38 and an economy rate of 7.17. With a base price of 2 Cr, a fierce bidding war is anticipated among franchises vying to secure his services.

Gerald Coetzee

Still a novice in top flight cricket, Gerald Coetzee has featured in only 42 T20 games so far, but the South African has already proved his worth with the ball in Indian conditions in the recently-concluded World Cup, returning 20 wickets in 8 matches.

The South-African sensation is all set to make his IPL debut in 2024. Franchises keen on fortifying their pace attack, particularly with genuinely fast bowlers, are likely to favour Coetzee in the upcoming mini-auction. Coetzee has set his base price at the highest possible bracket of Rs 2 crore.

While he may command a relatively higher price, his knack for taking wickets and his proficiency in delivering impactful blows in the lower order make him an enticing prospect for most teams. The dynamic South African consistently bowls above 145 kmph and possesses the ability to generate extra bounce off the pitch.

Considering the gaps left by the departures of Jofra Archer and Josh Hazelwood, Mumbai Indians (MI) and RCB emerge as the top contenders likely to engage in a bidding battle for the services of this star bowler.

Shahrukh Khan

Despite being an uncapped player with a base price of 40 lakhs, Shahrukh Khan is set to be the most sought-after all-rounder in the upcoming auction.

Purchased for INR 9 crore by the Punjab Kings in the lead-up to the IPL 2021 auction, Shahrukh had limited opportunities in the previous few seasons, leading to his release ahead of the 2024 auction. However, his impactful performance in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023, where he emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 17 strikes in nine games at an economy rate of 6.66, has heightened his craze among the franchises.

The 26-year-old has notably excelled in the role of a lower middle-order power hitter over the past two years with Tamil Nadu, delivering impressive performances.

Pat Cummins

The World Cup winning captain, Pat Cummins will be the hot pick ahead of the auction considering his street smart bowling and the leadership qualities he brings to the team.

Cummins secured one of the record bids in the 2020 auction, with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquiring him for a hefty sum of INR 15.5 crore. Despite being released, the franchise opted to bring him back two seasons later, securing his services for INR 7.25 crore.

Functioning as a dynamic bowling all-rounder, Cummins can be a dangerous bowler with the new ball and can contribute with valuable cameos with the bat.

Vivrant Sharma

Vivrant Sharma grabbed headlines during the 2023 IPL auction when Sunrisers Hyderabad secured his services for Rs. 2.20 crore, engaging in a bidding war with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Hailing from Jammu and aged 24, Vivrant showed why he is one of the most-expensive uncapped player in the IPL. He scored a fifty in his first innings against the 5-times champion Mumbai.

The left-handed batter strengthened his credentials with a 144 runs innings against Mizoram and a gritty 83 against Uttarakhand in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. With the added dimension of consistently bowling wrist spin, Vivrant will be in the radar of many teams.
