Sharma also revealed that it wasn’t his decision to give up the captaincy and that it didn’t bother him much. Toward the end of the video, Rohit is heard saying ‘one final year’, but since the audio wasn’t clear enough, his fans couldn’t hear him properly.
This conversation led to a frenzy on social media as there were speculations that this would be Rohit’s last year in MI.

"See, it is part of life. Not everything will go your way. It has been a great experience," Rohit told reporters in the press conference.
Speculations were rife that Rohit’s relations with Hardik were strained and that the franchise dealt with the whole captaincy saga poorly, especially after Rohit led MI to five IPL titles. He also said that playing under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy was quite like what it was like playing under captains.
"Before (also), I have not been captain and I have played under a lot of captains. It is no different or new to me," he further said.
