IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings shared a special video on their official social media, capturing the first conversation between Sanju Samson and MS Dhoni. In the video, Samson speaks about Dhoni, highlighting the significance of this moment for him.

"After that, we met at the IPL, and there was always a huge crowd in front of the stadium. There were 5-10 people here and there, but that never felt enough—I wanted to see it by myself. Destiny has now allowed me to play with him in the same dressing room for a couple of months. I am very excited to finally meet him, interact with him, have breakfast, practice, play, and go out together. Just thinking about it makes me very happy," Samson said in the video.

This moment is significant for Samson as he begins a new chapter in the IPL. After over 10 years and 11 seasons with the Rajasthan Royals, he has moved to CSK for the upcoming season. In the trade, Sam Curran joined the Rajasthan Royals, while Ravindra Jadeja returned to the Rajasthan-based franchise.

Samson enters this season after a dream run for the Men in Blue. He was instrumental in India's victory in the 2026 T20 World Cup, earning the Player of the Tournament award.

He had a slow start in the mega event. After struggling with consistency and being dropped from the XI, he returned for the Super 8s against the Sikandar Raza-led side with a brilliant comeback. He hit three consecutive fifties: an unbeaten 97 against West Indies in the virtual quarterfinal, 89 against England in the semifinal, and the same score against New Zealand in the final.

He scored 321 runs in just five matches, surpassing Virat Kohli's 319 runs from the 2014 T20 World Cup. Samson became the top Indian run-scorer in a single edition, also hitting a record 24 sixes.

Throughout the tournament, he set more records: most runs in consecutive Indian innings, most in a knockout match, and the highest runs by an Indian in a T20 World Cup final and while chasing.

Now, as Samson prepares to share the CSK dressing room with Dhoni, his excitement is understandable. What once seemed a distant dream has become reality, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated partnerships of the season.
