Prabhsimran Singh responded in style after being left out of India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 125 off just 47 balls for Jalandhar Warriors in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League.

Prabhsimran was part of India’s squad for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in July. However, he did not get a game in the series, which was led by Shreyas Iyer.

The 26-year-old was hoping to get an opportunity against Afghanistan, but he was not included in India’s squad announced on September 1.

Prabhsimran Answers With A Stunning Century

Just hours after India announced the Afghanistan squad, Prabhsimran walked out for Jalandhar Warriors against Amritsar Soormas at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

What followed was a breathtaking display of hitting.

Prabhsimran smashed 125 not out from only 47 deliveries, hitting 14 fours and eight sixes. His innings helped Jalandhar Warriors chase down a huge target of 264 runs in only 16.2 overs, with eight wickets still in hand.

He brought up his century in just 41 balls. The milestone came in the 14th over when he hit Amritsar captain Abhishek Sharma for a six off the final delivery of the over.

Sanju Samson Returns To India Squad

India have brought Sanju Samson back into the T20I squad for the Afghanistan series.

Samson is expected to be the second-choice wicketkeeper behind Ishan Kishan, who currently sits at the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings.

With Prabhsimran out of the squad, the youngster will now have to wait for another chance at the international level.

Abhishek Sharma Faces Competition

Abhishek Sharma has retained his place in the Indian T20I squad despite a disappointing outing during the Zimbabwe series.

However, his place in the playing XI could come under pressure with Samson back in the group.

Abhishek and Samson could also find themselves competing for a place alongside young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at the top of the order.

Prabhsimran Continues Strong Run In Punjab

Prabhsimran has been in good touch in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League.

He is leading Jalandhar Warriors in the 2026 edition and had already made an impact in their opening match, scoring 76 runs from 42 balls.

The wicketkeeper-batter also holds the record for the most IPL runs by an uncapped player.

Prabhsimran was part of the Indian team that won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games. He will next be in action for Jalandhar Warriors on September 3, when they take on Bhatinda Royals.
