The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which will begin on September 13. All three matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Jasprit Bumrah has been included in the 15-member squad as he continues his recovery from the injury he picked up during India’s England tour. However, his participation in the series will depend on his fitness.

Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been named in the squad, but their availability will also be subject to fitness.

The Afghanistan series will be India’s final T20I assignment before the Asian Games. As the Daily Jagran reported earlier, India are expected to stick with the same core group for the Asian Games 2026 as well.

This means the Afghanistan series could be an important opportunity for the selected players to prove their fitness and form ahead of the Asian Games.

Notably, Afghanistan have already announced their squad for the India series, where Ibrahim Zadran will lead the side, and they have also added Gulbadin Naib in their team for batting depth in the middle order.
