Royal Challengers Bengaluru legend Virat Kohli is on the verge of creating another major IPL record as RCB get ready to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their final league match before the playoffs. The star batter now has a chance to go past a record currently shared by Chris Gayle, David Warner and KL Rahul.

SRH will host table-toppers RCB in Match 67 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Friday night. Both teams have already qualified for the IPL 2026 playoffs, but this game is still extremely important. A win could help either side secure a top-two finish, which comes with the advantage of getting two chances to reach the final along with Gujarat Titans.

SRH vs RCB IPL head-to-head

RCB and SRH have met 27 times in IPL history. SRH hold a slight edge with 14 wins, while RCB have won 12 matches. Earlier this season, RCB defeated an SRH side missing captain Pat Cummins by six wickets after comfortably chasing down 201 runs with 26 balls to spare.

Kohli's form in IPL 2026

Kohli has been in excellent form this season. He is currently sixth in the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race with 542 runs from 13 innings. He has maintained an impressive average of 54.20 and a strike rate of 164.74.

This is also the fourth straight IPL season in which Kohli has crossed the 500-run mark, and the ninth time overall in his IPL career.

Now, the RCB star is just 58 runs away from making IPL history. Kohli is currently tied with Gayle, Warner and Rahul for the most consecutive IPL seasons with 600-plus runs.

Gayle achieved the feat in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Warner managed it in 2016, 2017 and 2019 after missing the 2018 season, while Rahul did it in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Kohli matched their record with 600-plus seasons in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

If Kohli scores 58 or more runs against SRH, he will become the first player in IPL history to register four consecutive seasons with 600-plus runs.
