Veteran batter Babar Azam, all-rounder Shadab Khan and fast bowler Naseem Shah have returned to Pakistan’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match home series against Australia which will take place later this year in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

PCB announced a 16-member squad on Friday, with two wicketkeepers included for the series. The first ODI will be played in Rawalpindi on May 30, while the remaining two matches are scheduled in Lahore on June 2 and June 4.

Shaheen Shah to lead Pakistan in ODIs

There were reports that Babar Azam who recently captained Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL 2026 triumph will be reappointed as Pakistan skipper in white ball cricket but left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the Men in Green's ODI side.

PCB made massive changes after Bangladesh defeat

The selectors made several changes after Pakistan’s 1-2 ODI series defeat against Bangladesh national cricket team in March. Six players Mohammad Rizwan, Faheem Ashraf, Faisal Akram, Saad Masood, Mohammad Wasim and Hussain Talat, have been left out of the squad.

Meanwhile, Babar, Shadab and Naseem, who missed the Bangladesh tour, have been recalled to the side.

Why Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayud Excluded from Pakistan squad

Pakistan will be without opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub as both are recovering from injuries.

The selectors have also handed maiden call-ups to pacer Ahmed Daniyal and all-rounder Arafat Minhas in the revamped squad.

Pakistan recently suffered a 0-2 defeat in the Test series against Bangladesh away from home earlier this week.
