Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took to X on Friday to congratulate Abhishek Sharma after the young batter smashed the fastest T20I century by an Indian.

Abhishek produced a stunning performance in the third T20I against Afghanistan on Thursday. The left-hander from Amritsar scored 108 runs from just 34 balls, reaching his century in only 30 deliveries. His explosive innings included nine fours and 11 sixes.

India went on to win the match by 128 runs and complete a 3-0 series sweep. Abhishek’s incredible knock also earned praise from Yuvraj, who has played an important role in the youngster’s development.

Yuvraj Congratulates Abhishek

Yuvraj said he was never surprised that Abhishek would eventually break the record for India’s fastest T20I century. He pointed to the batter’s talent and hard work and backed him to break many more records in the future.

The former India all-rounder also told Abhishek to remain humble and continue focusing on the process.

Abhishek Continues To Make History

Abhishek made his India T20I debut against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 6, 2024. Since then, he has quickly established himself as one of India’s most explosive batters in the format.

He has already crossed 1,500 T20I runs and 100 sixes. He has also become the first Indian batter to score three T20I centuries across three consecutive calendar years.

His latest century against Afghanistan brought even more records. Apart from becoming the fastest Indian to score a T20I hundred, Abhishek also broke the record for the fastest T20I century by a player from a Test-playing nation and the fastest century against a Test-playing nation.

Both records previously belonged to New Zealand’s Finn Allen, who had scored a 33-ball century against South Africa in the first semi-final of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
