Amid rising air pollution, the entry of vehicles with BS-3 and lower emission standards has been banned in the capital, Delhi. In response, the Delhi Traffic Police has increased its vigilance at key entry points, such as the Apsara and Ghazipur borders, to prevent their entry.
The traffic police stated that the ban was imposed on Saturday. Police teams have been deployed at the borders to stop and inspect vehicles. Only vehicles with BS-4 and higher emission standards are being permitted entry into Delhi, while those found to be of the BS-3 standard are being sent back to Uttar Pradesh.

A specific logistical challenge exists at the Apsara Border due to a flyover. To effectively stop restricted vehicles, the traffic police have to position themselves on the Uttar Pradesh side of the border. If they do not stand within Uttar Pradesh's territory, the non-compliant vehicles can get onto the flyover and bypass the inspection.
