Delhi Free LPG Cylinders:  The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, on Tuesday announced to provide free LPG cylinders for the economically weaker section with valid ration cards on Holi and Diwali. The decision was taken in a Delhi cabinet meeting chaired by CM Gupta.

How To Avail The Benefit

In the meeting, the Delhi Cabinet decided that the amount for one cylinder will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. This ensures transparency and allows beneficiaries to purchase the cylinder from their regular distributor.

Delhi Govt Flags 25,000 Ration Card Holders Over Assets

The Delhi government has flagged at least 25,000 ration card holders following periodic verification drives that uncovered alleged ownership of vehicles and/or land, assets that may indicate higher income levels and potential ineligibility for subsidised rations.

Authorities are now requiring these beneficiaries to submit income certificates from the revenue department to verify their financial status and reassess eligibility under the norms.

"Dear ration card holder, it was found that a vehicle is registered in your name and that you are the owner of the said vehicle. This indicates that your annual family income exceeds Rs 1 lakh, making you ineligible for a ration card," read an SMS received by a beneficiary in East Delhi, as per a report by Times of India.
