Delhi's Environment Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, has announced that approximately 2,000 teams have been deployed in the capital for pollution prevention. The Minister emphasised that the work to solve the problem will be carried out with accountability and transparency throughout the year, not just during the winter season.

Relevant departments have been instructed to take special measures for pollution prevention at 13 hotspot locations. He said that due to the efforts of the Delhi government, air quality is improving.

To curb pollution, 70 new mechanised sweepers, 70 additional anti-smog guns, water sprinklers and 140 litter pickers will be deployed. This will help in preventing pollution on 1,440 kilometres of roads.

Construction sites larger than 500 square metres are being closely monitored to prevent dust problems. Each department is regularly reporting to the Green War Room, and necessary steps are being taken accordingly.

Steps taken for air pollution prevention:

-376 anti-smog guns (last year there were 335).

-266 water sprinklers (last year there were 259).

-91 mechanised road sweepers (last year there were 83).

-Deployment of 378 teams to monitor construction sites.

-Deployment of 443 teams to prevent waste burning.

-578 mobile teams from the Transport Department and other units, and 505 from the Delhi Traffic Police, are working to prevent vehicular pollution.

-65 teams deployed to ensure the use of PNG fuel in industrial units.
