With the onset of cold weather, Chakrata once again offered a breathtaking display of the rare Winter Line on Wednesday evening. Locals and tourists captured the spectacular sight on their cameras as streaks of red and yellow lit up the horizon at sunset.

The Winter Line, a unique atmospheric phenomenon, appears when layers of warm and cold air meet after sunset, forming vibrant horizontal bands in the sky. It is visible only from select hill stations such as Mussoorie and Chakrata, typically between late October and January, particularly on clear evenings.

Nature enthusiasts and residents said the glowing Winter Line adds to the charm of Chakrata’s chilly evenings. “This natural phenomenon makes the sunsets here magical,” said retired Captain Chetan Chauhan and Vipin Dobhal.

Local hoteliers, including Saksham Joshi, Yudhveer Tomar, Varun Singh, Ashish, Pradeep Tomar, and Anupam Tomar, said the stunning sight is expected to draw more visitors in the coming days. Tourist arrivals in Chakrata generally see a sharp rise during this season, especially with the approach of snowfall.
