Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan: CM Rekha Gupta Approves 431 Village Development Projects; Rs 1,000 Cr Allocated

Delhi’s government is intensifying efforts to improve basic facilities in villages across the city. In its first meeting held on Thursday, the Delhi Rural Development Board, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved 431 projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore.

During the ongoing Sewa Pakhwada (Service Fortnight), Delhi’s government is intensifying efforts to improve basic facilities in villages across the city. On Wednesday, 81 development projects were launched under the Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan (Delhi Village Upliftment Campaign).

In its first meeting held on Thursday, the Delhi Rural Development Board, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved 431 projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore. These projects will focus on essential infrastructure, including roads, drains, drinking water, sanitation, water bodies, community centres, parks, sports grounds, and cremation grounds.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasised accelerating development in villages across 30 assembly constituencies and 4 parliamentary constituencies. She highlighted the importance of balanced urban and rural development and assured that budget allocations for village development will not be lacking.

Officials were instructed to prepare detailed lists of projects by assembly constituency for approval and implementation, with board members assigned to oversee different Lok Sabha constituencies to ensure transparency.

The meeting was attended by Development Minister Kapil Mishra, Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, Vice-Chairman Gajendra Singh Daral, board members, and officials from concerned departments.

The projects also include the construction and repair of roads, development of ponds and water bodies, village chaupals, community halls, parks, gymnasiums, libraries, streetlights, and drainage systems, along with the provision of drinking water facilities.

This initiative aims to significantly enhance the quality of life in Delhi’s villages and accelerate rural development under the Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan.
