In a preemptive crackdown to ensure safety during New Year celebrations, the Outer District police have arrested five criminals from various police station areas. The accused were reportedly setting out to commit crimes with weapons when they were apprehended. Police teams recovered two pistols, three cartridges, and three knives from their possession.
Intensified Surveillance Leads To Arrests
Outer District Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma stated that patrolling and surveillance had been intensified across all police station areas two days prior to the New Year to maintain law and order. It was during this heightened vigilance that specific teams successfully intercepted the criminals.
Details Of The Incidents
On the night of December 29, a team from the Mangolpuri police station was patrolling the Y-Block area when they spotted a suspicious individual near the community hall. Upon seeing the police, the man attempted to flee but was chased down and apprehended. Identified as Rohan, a resident of Mangolpuri, he was found in possession of a pistol. During interrogation, Rohan confessed that he was in the area with the intent to commit robbery. A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act.
In a separate incident on the night of December 30, the Nihal Vihar police station team apprehended a criminal named Santosh on Nala Road in ChanderVihar. Like the previous case, Santosh attempted to flee upon sighting the police but was caught. A pistol and live cartridges were recovered from the Chander Vihar resident.
Further Crackdown In Ranibagh And Raj Park
Also on December 30, the Ranibagh police arrested Narendra, a resident of Mohan Garden, who was found in the Pitampura area with a knife, allegedly intending to commit a crime. In the same precinct, another team apprehended Vikas, a resident of Shakurpur, near the Shakurpur railway car park; a knife was also seized from him.

Additionally, the Raj Park police arrested an individual named Ajay in the Mangolpuri area and recovered a knife from his possession. During questioning, Ajay admitted that he was planning to commit robbery.
Investigation Underway
Police officials noted that several of the arrested individuals already have multiple criminal cases registered against them. All five accused are currently being interrogated to identify their associates, and their criminal records are being scrutinised for further links.
