Delhi Air Pollution: The national capital’s air quality deteriorated to the ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday morning, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 333 at 8 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Meanwhile, Delhi shivered through its coldest January morning in three years as the minimum temperature dropped to 3 Degree Celsius  in the early hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, warning of a continuing cold wave in the city till January 14.

Delhi Weather Update

The minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to remain between 3 and 5 Degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature may range between 19 and 21 Degree Celsius.

Cold wave conditions are likely in parts of North and South Delhi, Central Delhi, Shahdara, West and North-West Delhi, as well as Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.

Light to dense fog is expected in these areas during the morning hours.

Over the past two days, cold winds have been blowing across the Delhi-NCR at a speed of around 17 km per hour, increasing the chill.

According to the IMD, the minimum temperature is expected to rise after January 15.

The minimum temperature is likely to be around 5-7 Degree Celsius on January 15, 6-8 Degree Celsius on January 16, and 8-10 Degree Celsius on January 17 and 18.

Today’s temperature in New Delhi is expected to range from about 9.1°C in the morning to 20.4 Degree Celsius at the peak, with an average near 14 Degree Celsius.

Humidity is relatively low for Delhi winters at around 32 percent, making the sunshine feel comfortable.

Winds will remain light to moderate, with speeds reaching up to 12.6 km/h.

No rainfall is expected today, with a 0 percent chance of rain.
