In a move to reconnect the capital's residents with the Yamuna river, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has opened the expansive lawns of Asita Park for socio-cultural events and public bookings. Developed under the supervision of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the park is located on the riverbanks near ITO.

The initiative offers a unique opportunity for citizens to host events amidst the restored ecological beauty of the Yamuna floodplains. Rental charges for the various lawns have been tiered based on their area, ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 3.3 lakh per day.

Rental Rates And Categories

According to the DDA’s schedule, the Surya Lawn (800 sq m) is the most affordable option, priced at Rs 40,000 per day. The Circular Lawn, spanning a massive 13,720 sq m, commands the highest rental fee of Rs 3,30,000.

Other available venues include:

Water Body Lawn: Rs 50,000

Cafe Lawn: Rs 1,00,000

Buddha Lawn: Rs 1,10,000

Canna Lawn: Rs 1,40,000

Main Congregation Lawn: Rs 2,90,000

Officials clarified that if multiple lawns are booked simultaneously, the highest applicable rate among them will be charged. The rental fee includes parking space for 40 vehicles.

Strict Environmental Safeguards

Given the park’s location in an ecologically sensitive zone, the DDA has enforced strict booking guidelines. All events must adhere to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and court guidelines. Only non-permanent, eco-friendly tentage structures are permitted.

A Model Of Ecological Restoration

The opening of Asita Park marks a significant turnaround for an area that was once plagued by encroachment and pollution. Spanning 197 hectares, the Asita Project now serves as a prime example of ecological restoration. The site features green pathways, dedicated ecological zones, and a green buffer along the river, providing Delhi with a vital new green space.
